An article written by the FMCSA really puts into perspective how dangerous life can be on the road. One statistic that stands out in the text is that there were, “5,005 lives lost in 4,455 crashes involving large trucks or buses,” this means accidents involving larger vehicles have a shockingly high fatality rate.
CMV drivers can also have shifts of up to 15 hours. While there are limitations put in place by the FMCSA regarding how long CMV drivers can operate their vehicles, both daily and weekly, the hours can still be strenuous, and the work dangerous.

It’s almost impossible to overstate how important CMV drivers have become to our economy. There are 3.5 million CMV professionals in the United States that ensure items, products, and deliveries show up on time at the location they’re intended for. If it weren’t for these individuals, businesses would come to a halt, and people wouldn’t have access to products they sometimes desperately need.
